Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue“

My Experience with the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue”

As a long-distance running coach, I’ve had the privilege to test a myriad of running shoes over the years. Recently, I had the opportunity to lace up the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue”. Even though they are not typically associated with long-distance running, I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of this classic basketball shoe. The shock absorption, lightness, and breathability were particularly impressive, although there were a few areas for improvement.

Shock Absorption

One of the most important aspects of any running shoe is how well it absorbs shock. In this regard, the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” truly excelled. The shoe’s air sole units in the heel and forefoot provided excellent cushioning, reducing the impact on my joints and muscles during long runs. This feature is particularly important for long-distance runners, as it can significantly decrease the risk of injuries over time.

Lightness

Another factor that stood out was the shoe’s lightness. Despite its robust design, the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” felt surprisingly light on my feet. This feature allowed me to maintain a quick pace without feeling weighed down, which is crucial for long-distance running. The shoe’s lightweight nature can be attributed to its mesh inserts and minimalistic design, which also contribute to its breathability.

Breathability

Speaking of breathability, the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” performed admirably in this area as well. The mesh inserts on the sides of the shoe allowed for excellent airflow, keeping my feet cool and dry even during long runs in hot weather. This feature not only enhanced my comfort but also reduced the risk of blisters and other skin irritations that can be caused by excessive moisture.

Areas for Improvement

Despite its many strengths, there were a few areas where the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” could use some improvement. Firstly, the shoe’s traction on wet surfaces left something to be desired. While it performed well on dry terrain, it was somewhat slippery on wet pavement, which could be a safety concern for runners in rainy climates.

Secondly, the shoe’s durability could be improved. While the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” held up well during my testing period, I did notice some signs of wear and tear on the outsole and upper after a few weeks of heavy use. For a shoe at this price point, I would expect a higher level of durability.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” as a long-distance running shoe. Its excellent shock absorption, lightness, and breathability make it a viable option for runners who value comfort and style. However, improvements could be made in terms of traction and durability. Despite these minor shortcomings, the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” is a testament to the fact that great running shoes can come from unexpected places.
